BIOGRAPHY AND PERSONALITY OF A FAMOUS GEMINI: JOE MONTANA

Football player. Born Joseph Clifford Montana on June 11, 1956 in New Eagle, Pennsylvania. Joe Montana attended high school in Monongahela, Pennsylvania, where he was eligible for both football and basketball scholarships. He decided to play football for Notre Dame, where, as 7th string quarterback, he earned a reputation for making miraculous eleventh hour comebacks.

Joe Montana was selected late in the third round of the draft by San Francisco 49er coach Bill Walsh. He went on to lead the 49ers to victories in four Super Bowls during the 1980s, including consecutive wins in 1989 and 1990. An inspirational leader and talented passer, he was named the National Football League's most valuable player three times. He joined the Kansas City Chiefs 1993–5, before retiring with NFL playoff records for completions, yards, and touchdowns. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2000.

Joe and his wife, Jennifer, have four children: Alexandra, Elizabeth, Nathaniel and Nicholas. They live in the Northern California wine country.
